Lexus has been named the UK’s most reliable car brand by owners in the 2025 Honest John Satisfaction Index, achieving a standout reliability rating of 97.01%.

The annual survey, based on feedback from more than 6,000 HonestJohn.co.uk readers, measures car owners’ experiences across key areas such as reliability, safety, comfort, practicality, performance, and running costs.

Lexus, the luxury arm of Toyota, took the top spot for reliability, followed by Tesla with 95.29% and Toyota itself in third with 94.65%. Honda and Skoda rounded out the top five with 94.31% and 93.08% respectively. The Lexus NX was rated the most reliable model overall, ahead of the Skoda Karoq and Toyota Corolla.

At the opposite end of the rankings, Alfa Romeo was the lowest-rated manufacturer for reliability at 76.67%, followed by Jeep (82.31%) and Vauxhall (84.53%). The Vauxhall Corsa was rated the UK’s least reliable car.

There were some surprises in this year’s results, with Mercedes ranked as the fifth worst brand for reliability at 86.03%, despite its premium positioning in the market.

In terms of overall satisfaction, Tesla owners were the most content, with a rating of 89.41%, placing the EV brand ahead of Lexus on 86.32% and Porsche on 84.79%. Honda (84.70%) and Skoda (84.51%) completed the top five.

Alfa Romeo also recorded the lowest overall satisfaction score at 72.12%, closely followed by Fiat (73.58%) and Vauxhall (76.11%). MG placed just above them at 77.29%, though Honest John noted this may improve as more customers experience its newer models.

Outside of car brands, GEM Motoring Assist received the highest satisfaction rating among breakdown providers with a score of 89.57%. NFU Mutual was once again named the best car insurer, topping the insurance satisfaction rankings for the sixth consecutive year with 87.48%.
