Liquid Fleet has onboarded connected vehicle technology from Volteras, aiming to boost fleet efficiencies, optimise residual values and drive down de-hire costs.
The Volteras system proactively records odometer readings and vehicle location data, collating it in an online portal.
It requires no hardware, instead using in-built car systems.
Volteras currently has parnerships with 30 OEMs and aims to reach 35 by Q1 2026.
Liquid Fleet said the move will help improve residual values by protecting the manufacturer’s warranty.
It will also allow the firm to schedule servicing and help customers see which vehicles could be electrified.
Liquid Fleet aims to implement the Volteras platform on the majority of its fleet of 3,000 by Q1 2026.
Vehicle onboarding and disconnection requires only the VIN to be entered into the online portal.
James Miller, sales and marketing director at Liquid Fleet, said: “Our partnership with Volteras provides invaluable insight on how the vehicles are driven and the types of journeys they are making, which allowed Liquid Fleet to offer a consultative service to our clients on how and when they moved their vehicles into electric.
“Having access to real time data on the mileage and location of our fleet means we can proactively approach customers who have one of our vehicles to remind them a service is due on a vehicle rather than risk having to pay for a missed service at the end of their contract.
“By presenting a car for sale in the used market with a complete service history and a full warranty will automatically optimise residual values on every vehicle we sell.
“This is worth hundreds of thousands of pounds to us every year.
“We can arrange the proactive servicing, maintenance and repair (SMR) service for clients through Fleet Assist which allows them to concentrate on their business while we organise the servicing for them.
“Proactively managing a customer’s service schedules enables them to focus on running their business.
“Data is essential as is how we collate and present this to our clients in a relevant way. That way every decision is informed and the right one for their immediate and future fleet needs.”
Two Liquid Fleet customers have signed up to be able to access the data on their rental vehicles for fleet management purposes.
Customers can view all vehicle data points in real time.
Chris Heddle, head of sales and partnerships at Volteras, said: “We have built partnerships with a number of OEM brands over the years to gain access to vehicle data through authorised Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
“These integrations are only possible with official collaborations with OEMs with data being transferred through designated channels via secure infrastructures.
“This type of secure infrastructure is what guarantees a significant difference in data speed, stability and range of data points without the need for hardware.”
