Lower running costs for all-new Honda Accord

The all-new Honda Accord will cost less to run when it goes on sale from June.

Predicted service, maintenance and repair (SMR) costs are lower for the new model than the outgoing Accord.

Savings over three years and 60,000 miles are in excess of L260.

For example, the SMR for the old-style Honda Accord 2.0 Type S was L1578 over three years. The equivalent new Honda Accord 2.0 ES GT costs just L1315 – a L263 saving.

The savings on the new diesel Accord are less, but still worthwhile. The SMR for the old-style Honda Accord 2.2 Sport GT was L1545 over three years. The equivalent new Honda Accord 2.2 ES GT costs just L1427 – a L118 saving.

Not only have the in-life costs of the new Honda Accord improved, but the average predicted residual value (RV) across the range has increased by a massive 23%.

Not only have the in-life costs of the new Honda Accord improved, but the average predicted residual value (RV) across the range has increased by a massive 23%.

“The new Honda Accord encapsulates our ‘alternative premium’ strategy – a premium product, priced against the quality segment, with mass market SMR running costs,” commented Graham Avent, manager – corporate operations, Honda.

“The result is a delicious package. User choosers will pick the car for its styling, technology, ride, build quality, and BIK tax appeal. Business car managers will benefit from Honda reliability and exceptional running costs,” continued Avent.

“The RV guides have recognised and understood what we have set out to do. That is reflected in the biggest increase in our residual values from an outgoing model to an incoming model – ever.”

The uplift in residual values is reflected in lower monthly contract hire rentals. The ES GT diesel is cheaper by £180 over three years and 30,000 miles compared to the outgoing Sport GT model, according to contract hire company HSBC Vehicle Finance.

Prices for the new Honda Accord start at £19,250 while the key business user Accord ES GT grade starts at £20,100. This specification includes 17-inch alloy wheels, half-leather seats, cruise control, aero styling, sports suspension and climate control.
