Manheim sells 500,000 Transits since 1965

IN case you hadn’t realised, despite all the press at the moment, the Ford Transit is 50 this year. Anyway, Manheim, the UK’s number one commercial vehicle auction company, is marking the iconic Ford commercial’s 50th birthday, by calculating it has sold over 500,000 used examples since its launch. Since 2007 alone, Manheim has sold over 84,000 Transit vans, with a total sales value of more than £425 million! The oldest Transit sold by Manheim since 2007 was a 25-year old, 1987 E-registration van. This is now being restored by James Davis, Manheim’s Director of Commercial Vehicles, despite only having 48,000 miles on the clock and one former owner on the V5. In 2014, Manheim sold the highest mileage Transit on record – a 10-year old Transit 350 15-seat minibus with a staggering 594,499 miles on the clock. Although Manheim have calculated that all the Ford Transit vans sold since 2007 through their physical and online auctions have had a combined age of 525,417 years and a total mileage of almost 9 billion – 8,866,589,154 miles, to be precise! Top Transit buyer at Manheim auctions has been Anchor Vans Ltd, who have bought a total of 1,100 of these iconic Ford vans since 2007, spending £6.4 million. The other 50 biggest Transit buyers have bought 21,442 Transits, worth more than £100 million. Top Manheim Transit sellers amongst their 18 physical auction sites, have been Colchester selling 30,000 units since 2007; Gloucester, which sold 25,000 and Haydock, which has seen 21,000 pass through its gates.
