THE new Mercedes E 300 Hybrid has won the ‘Best Overall Company Car for SMEs’ category in the Business Car Manager SME Company Car of the Year Awards 2012, run in association with MAGMA Automotive Services.

It was the only car to receive a clean sweep of first places in its category from our judges – Best Company Car for SME Directors – and as a complete all-rounder, the Mercedes E 300 Hybrid plays a demon company car card.

Certainly, at nearly £40,000 it’s not the cheapest model on the market, but it delivers prestige in bucket loads.

The Mercedes E 300 Hybrid is a large, prestige, executive car, but it costs as little as £80 a month in company car tax

And yet if an SME business was to purchase this car before April 2013, the Mercedes E 300 Hybrid would qualify for 100% first year writing down allowances to enhance cash flow through the business.

In addition, company car tax for the Mercedes E 300 Hybrid costs as little as £950 a year – that’s less than £80 a month.

Continuing the good news on running costs, expect over 65mpg with a potential range of over 1000 miles on a tank of fuel, yet the E 300 Hybrid can accelerate to 60mph in 7.5secs.

And the running cost benefits don’t stop there.

The Mercedes E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid G-Tronic Plus is available on a business car lease from £467 a month which, thanks to the low CO2 emissions of the diesel hybrid drivetrain, means an SME business can reclaim 100% of the business car lease rentals against taxable profits, and reclaim 50% of the VAT element on the finance.

“The E-Class is the clear winner,” said our judges.

“It has outstanding CO2 for a car of this class, it’s a quality product, and in this specification has good resale potential.”

What more could you want? It’s the best company car.
