MG shows two new EVs at Goodwood, up to 441 mile range

MG has released two electric vehicles (EVs) at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, under the ‘IM’ sub-brand, which stands for Intelligence in Motion.

Both models feature a new 800V electrical architecture, with up to 100kWh of battery capacity.

IM models are technology-led, with both interiors featuring a pair of screens, one 10.5-inch, and one 26.3-inch.

The fastback-styled IM5 saloon offers a range of up to 441 miles, and can charge from 10% to 80% in 17 minutes.

Standard 75kWh models start at £39,450, Long Range 100kWh models start at £44,995, and the 100kWh Performance version, which can accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds, starts at £48,495.

The IM6 SUV range will start at £47,995, rising to £50,995 and £52,995 for the Performance and Launch Edition versions respectively.

IM6 Performance models can accelerate to 62mph in 3.5 seconds.

All IM6s will come with the larger 100kWh battery.

Both of the new MG EVs feature rear-wheel steering, a panoramic sunroof, and a 20-speaker sound system, with speakers in the roof.

Dual and single-motor variants of both cars will be offered.

Other features include double-layer windows, One Touch Park Assist, and Rainy Night Mode.

David Allison head of product and planning at MG said: “MG has made EV ownership accessible exciting and different with the MG Cyberster convertible leading the way for the brand.

“But now, we’re seeking to deliver technology leadership and innovation with MG IM, engaging with customers aspiring for the future, today.”

MG also revealed the ‘Cyber X’ concept, a compact, ‘city focused’ SUV, with pop-up headlights.

The Cyber X is intended to inspire the design of future MG models.
