The new MGS5 EV has received a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, joining the MG4 EV and MG HS as the third MG model to earn the highest score from the independent testing body.
The vehicle scored 90% for adult occupant protection, 82% for child occupant protection, 82% in vulnerable road user safety and 78% in the safety assist category.
Euro NCAP’s programme director, Aled Williams, said: “Euro NCAP continues to push manufacturers to strive for the highest levels of safety, and it is rewarding that MG have responded so positively, with excellent performance across all areas of occupant and partner protection.”
MG Pilot, the brand’s suite of advanced driver assistance systems, contributed to the strong results. It includes features such as active emergency braking, blind spot detection, lane keeping assistance and adaptive cruise control.
The MGS5 EV’s safety credentials are further reinforced by its braking performance, achieved in collaboration with Continental.
The EV features large 321mm front and 300mm rear brake discs, combined with Continental’s integrated electric braking booster. From 62mph, the MGS5 EV comes to a stop in 35.5 metres.
The five-star rating for the MGS5 EV reflects MG’s continued commitment to independently verified safety standards.
Alongside its Euro NCAP recognition, the MG4 EV has also been awarded top marks by Green NCAP, Europe’s emissions testing initiative.
