BMW has announced a five-door version of the MINI Hatch. The new British-built model will go on sale this autumn.
The latest arrival isn’t the first five-door model in the MINI range of course – that honour goes to the larger Countryman – but it is the first time the mainstream MINI Hatch has been offered with five doors.
While the five-door model preserves most of the neat looks and proportions of the three-door Hatch, it is in fact slightly longer, which allows it to offer improved luggage space and rear leg-room, two areas where the three-door is weak.
In fact the boot volume rises to 278 litres, an improvement of 67 litres, or about 30 per cent.
