MJ Quinn, a national telecoms infrastructure specialist, has adopted a fleet management solution from Webfleet.

The company has already deployed the solution on 800 vehicles and plans to expand it to cover the whole fleet, which numbers more than 3,000, including new vans assigned to engineers trained through its in-house academy programme.

MJ Quinn adopted the solution to boost operational efficiency, improve driver safety and support its sustainability goals.

Webfleet’s OptiDrive360 performance insights and Webfleet Video allows MJ Quinn to monitor driver behaviour and provide targeted coaching, in order to curb speeding, mobile phone use and driver distraction.

Kerry Teesdale (pictured, centre), head of fleet at MJ Quinn, said: “As an organisation, we had a clear vision for the type of solution required to advance our fleet – one that would enhance operational efficiency, reinforce safety standards and enable smarter, data-driven decision-making.

“We weren’t simply looking for a supplier, we were seeking a long-term partner.

“Webfleet provides the actionable insights we need to manage our fleet proactively rather than reactively, while also supporting the development of a data-driven safety culture across the organisation.

“In line with our policy, the in-cab camera is only activated in escalation cases involving high-risk drivers, once coaching has been provided and further monitoring is deemed necessary.

“The ability to remotely enable or disable the in-cab camera on an individual basis, while keeping the forward-facing camera permanently active, represents a significant advancement in our road risk management.

“It not only enhances driver protection but also helps safeguard the business against false claims and costly litigation.

“This investment supports our ambition to build a fleet that is safer, smarter and more sustainable – now and in the future”

The firm will use Webfleet’s vehicle diagnostics and health monitoring capabilities to reduce vehicle downtime and prevent breakdowns.

MJ Quinn said it expects to see significant cost savings through implementing Webfleet, driven by improved fuel efficiency, enhanced vehicle maintenance and reduced insurance claims.

It will also enable the firm to optimise workflows and streamline job dispatch, which is especially valuable for MJ Quinn’s predominantly home-based engineering workforce.

Webfleet’s EV Transition Tool will help MJ Quinn identify which vehicles can be electrified.

Alex Crane-Robinson, regional director for the UK and Ireland at Webfleet, said: “We are proud to support MJ Quinn in its mission to drive continuous improvement across its fleet operations.

“By combining powerful data insights with advanced video telematics, Webfleet is proactively helping MJ Quinn create a safer, more efficient and more sustainable future for its mobile workforce.”
