Skoda has effectively cut £2,000 from the price of its Enyaq electric SUV by introducing two new entry-level models.

The Enyaq 50 and Enyaq 50 Edition start from £36,970, which undercuts by £2,000 the Enyaq 60 which they replace.

Both newcomers are fitted with a new 55kWh battery pack with a WLTP combined cycle range of 234 and 232 miles respectively. Both also use a single rear-mounted electric motor producing an equivalent 170hp and 310Nm of torque, producing 0-62mph times of 9.1 seconds and a maximum speed of 99mph.

The new Enyaq 50 models are able to charge at 145kW DC and 11kW on an AC connection. Using a suitable DC rapid charger an 80% replenishment takes around 25 minutes while on an 11kW AC connection a full charge takes around five hours and 30 minutes.

The new models come with Skoda’s standard eight-year, 100,000 mile battery warranty, guaranteeing a a minimum 70% remaining capacity.

Standard equipment for both of the new Enyaq 50s includes 19-inch alloy wheels, a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment display with navigation and a wide suite of active safety aids.

Edition versions add full LED Matrix beam headlights and full LED rear lights, heated front seats and steering wheel and privacy glass., plus further safety features, tri-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control and cooled wireless charging.

The Enyaq 50 Edition costs £1615 more than the 50 at £38,585. The rest of the Enyaq range has been simplified, now comprising three 85 models using the larger 82kWh (77kWh net) battery pack and the range-topping Enyaq vRS.
