The arrival of a Ford Mustang with a 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine might just mean that with a little ‘man maths’ it could be on the company car list one day…

FORD has announced a new Mustang – and this one’s coming to Europe.

In the past, this would have been an event of only passing interest to company car drivers. After all American muscle cars have traditionally been fitted with enormous gaz-guzzling, wallet-busting tax-unfriendly, high-performance engines.

This time, though, things could be different because the new car will be available with a 2.3-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine from Ford’s EcoBoost range that promises a bit more efficiency than you might expect, although there are no hard figures yet.

That said, the EcoBoost engine is still good for 309PS and 407Nm of torque, so it should still offer decent performance, especially combined with the new car’s manual option (automatic will also be available).
