IF the new Lamborghini Aventador Roadster wasn’t quick enough anyway, the boys from Sant’Agata Bolognese decided that a high speed demonstration should do the trick.

At Miami Airport.

It wasn’t quite a race against an airplane – that would probably be beyond the pale for the busiest US airport for international flights – it was in front of an American Airlines Boeing 777.

And faster than a passenger aircraft at take off speed.

How fast is that?

It’s 150-180mph. Fast enough, but when a 700hp Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster can be clocked on the closed airport runway at 210mph, we know who flies fastest on the ground: Lamborghini.

With a 0-62mph time of 3secs, and a top speed of 217mph from its 6.5-litre V12, the open-top Lambo certainly doesn’t lack for old fashioned muscle, although stop-start fuel saving is part of the set up.

Lamborghini Aventador
0-62 takes 3 seconds, and with a top speed of 217mph, it really is quicker than a plane

What you do get as well as the power is exceptional levels of luxury. But then with a price tag of around £260,000 when it comes to the UK, perhaps you should.

Anyway, have a look at this business car video of five Lamborghinis flying down Miami airport runway.
