Nissan has confirmed that the sixth-generation Micra will return to the B-segment as a fully electric vehicle, bringing new design, technology and dynamic features to the brand’s compact hatchback line-up.

The model will be available exclusively as a five-door EV and offer up to 253 miles of range with fast charging and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology.

Built on the AmpR EV platform and designed in London at Nissan Design Europe, the Micra combines a bold new stance with distinctive detailing.

The SUV-inspired design features 18-inch wheels, dark wheel arch trims, and a signature headlamp design that performs a ‘welcome wink’ when the car is unlocked.

Nissan will offer 14 colour combinations, including two-tone variants with a black or grey roof depending on trim level.

The new Micra will be offered with two battery options: a 40kWh pack with 90kW of power and 192 miles of range, and a 52kWh version offering 110kW and up to 253 miles.

Both support fast charging, with 15% to 80% capacity achieved in 30 minutes. A heat pump, battery thermal management and V2L capability are standard on all versions.

Inside, the model features dual 10.1-inch screens and integrated Google built-in services. Navigation, media, and smart home controls are available via Google Assistant, while over-the-air updates keep maps current.

Nissan’s route planner also pre-conditions the battery ahead of charging stops. Three interior themes—Modern, Audacious and Chill—are complemented by 48-colour ambient lighting.

Giovanny Arroba, vice president of Nissan Design Europe, said: “In designing the sixth generation of the Micra, we’ve celebrated all the values that have historically made it so popular – and opened a new chapter for Micra as an EV.

“The exterior has an audacious and playful appearance on first look but has a stance which gives it a solid presence on the road. We’ve also been able to integrate delightful details into the design, which owners will love. We’re proud to have been able to bring the Micra into the EV age.”

The new Micra also introduces drive mode customisation and one-pedal driving via Nissan’s e-Pedal system. With multi-link rear suspension and regenerative braking adjustable via paddles, the car blends urban manoeuvrability with ride comfort.

Nissan confirmed that four fully electric models, including the new Micra, Juke, LEAF and an A-segment car, will launch in Europe by 2027.
