Traffic management firm Paulsons has achieved 100% audit compliance under the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS), following its adoption of the FORS-FMS software from fleet management technology provider FleetCheck.

The St Albans-based company, which operates a fleet of 25 Renault Master and Ford Transit 3.5 tonne tail lift vans, previously relied on spreadsheets and manual check sheets to manage its operations.

Its shift to a fully digital system followed an encounter managing director James Hawkes had while volunteering as a paramedic with St John Ambulance.

Hawkes said: “While driving an ambulance for St John, I raised a defect on their FleetCheck app and the fleet manager called me almost immediately, less than 10 minutes after driving out of the gate.

“I would never have caught a defect that quickly at work, so it was worth investigating.”

Following a 30-day trial with FleetCheck’s FORS-FMS system, Paulsons automated its fleet processes and centralised vehicle data, saving an estimated two hours per day – equivalent to 10 hours per week.

The company then achieved a perfect score in its latest FORS audit, a first in its operational history.

FORS is a voluntary accreditation scheme designed to promote best practice in fleet safety, efficiency, and environmental performance.

FleetCheck’s FORS-FMS system, introduced in 2018 and continuously updated, offers an integrated online checklist, document storage, data portal, and advanced reporting features to help members maintain compliance.

Hawkes said: “The software connects directly with FORS so we no longer need to log on to their site and work out what has expired and needs further attention.

“It presents all the information we need in one place, so we can see exactly what needs to be done.”

Peter Golding (pictured), managing director at FleetCheck, said: “A large proportion of fleets operating under FORS now use the FORS-FMS system and achieve very high levels of compliance, similar to the results being seen at Paulsons.

“We’re pleased to see that the software is proving a success for them and having such a positive impact on their vehicle operations.”

Paulsons Traffic Management provides temporary traffic systems across southern and midland regions of England, primarily serving clients in the construction and utilities industries.
