MANUFACTURERS produce cars at alarming rates to meet the demands of the general public.

Though it’s great that there are a variety of cars available for purchase, when it comes to originality – there isn’t any.

Unfortunately, certain modifications like paint jobs, stereo installations, and new rims could cause the value of your car to drop immensely. So where does that leave you?

Is there a way to make your vehicle feel more like your own without harming the resale value? The answer is yes. Below are a few suggestions to consider:

License Plates – A simple way to separate your ride from the rest is to get a personalized license plate. Around almost since the invention of vehicles, plates have come a long way. They’ve gone from leather and felt patches with the owner’s initials engraved into it to beautifully designed stamped metal plates.

There are companies like CarReg who specialise in making private number plates and customized license plates for your car. You could get a special number, your name, or a unique phrase to really make your car stand out. You can learn more about CarReg by visiting their company website.
Car Wraps – A paint job would be great if you’re not keen on those factor colors, but changing the colors can cause an issue. Instead, look into getting your car wrapped. Made from vinyl the wrap is customised to fit the shape and size of your vehicle.

You could choose just about any color or pattern and have it fitted to your car. Should you decide to resell or trade your vehicle in, the wrap easily comes off. Another important point about car wraps is they can protect the paint on your car keeping it from getting scratched and chipped.

Car Seat Covers – The car’s interior can also be personalized to your liking. While you can’t have it reupholstered just yet, you can make a quick change by purchasing some car seat covers. T

here are a lot of different styles to choose from. Whether you want cloth or leather, red, black, or blue interior it’s available for purchase. You can even opt to have your car seat covers personalized with your name, initials, or your favorite phrase. Similar to the car wraps car seat covers also protect your car’s interior from damage.

Floor Mats – Not liking the carpeting presently in your car? Add a bit of detail to it with the right floor mats. They come in various materials for texture and style and are great ways to keep those carpets clean underneath.

Removable Car Decals – If you’d like a more affordable option for changing your car’s exterior other than wrapping it, look for removable decals. These have easy to remove adhesive or are magnetic so they can easily be put on or removed from the vehicle without damaging the paint. Whether you want to accent your car with a little cheetah print, flames, skull, and bones, or flowers, there are decals that will do the job.

Performance Upgrades – No one will see these changes but if you were to race against other vehicles of the same make and model the differences would be apparent. Performance upgrades to the vehicle’s engine don’t have to bring down the resale value of the car. While you don’t want to beef it up with too many bells and whistles, a few changes to the air intake or exhaust could actually help increase the resale value. Just make sure that these upgrades are completed by an expert technician with quality parts.

Part of the joy of buying your own vehicle is having something to call your own. However, when your car looks just like everyone else’s, it just doesn’t feel as unique. If you’re looking for a way to personalise your car so that it stands out from the rest but hesitant about destroying the resale value, there are other options.

Add your own personal touches using some of the tips above and design a car you’re proud to drive every day.
