Despite its small size, the Peugeot 108 offers good ride quality over most surfaces

What’s hot

  • Grown up design language makes the 108 look both sophisticated and quite feminine.
  • Equipment levels impress on all but the base model.
  • Excellent city car with tight turning circle, light controls and good visibility.
  • Good ride quality over most surfaces.
  • New 1.2-litre engine remains frugal but adds a useful amount of extra poke.
  • Personalisation packs are distinctive without, for the most part, being too outrageous.

After the stylish exterior, the Peugeot 108’s cheap and shiny interior plastics are a bit of a let down

What’s not

  • Cheap and shiny plastics on the inside don’t match the high quality exterior style.
  • The 108 is a tricky car to get comfortable in, as the driver’s seat is mounted high, plus the steering wheel only adjusts for rake.
  • 1.0-litre engine is rough when worked hard and asthmatic when not.
  • Gearbox is vague to operate especially when making quick changes.
  • Fabric roof is very noisy when open at speed.
