Peugeot dealers have started taking orders for the new 5008 seven-seat SUV, which will offer a choice of three powertrains.

The e-5008, Peugeot’s first full-electric seven-seat SUV, will likely create most interest with an impressive range of up to 310 miles and a highly competitive starting price of £48,550 – a further version will join the line-up late run 2024 with its range stretched to 410 miles and costing from £52,350.

The 5008 EV uses a single electric motor of an equivalent 210hp driving the front wheels and powered by a 73kWh battery. The long-range variant will offer 230hp via a 98kWh battery.

Both electric models will be fitted with an 11kW three-phase onboard charger as standard on electric versions. DC rapid charging at up to 160kW is supported allowing the vehicle to recharge from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes.

Hybrid (HEV) and  plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions of the 5008 will also be available. The PHEV, priced from £43,350, pairs a 1.6-litre 150hp (110kW) petrol engine with a 21kWh lithium-ion battery and a 125hp (92kW) electric motor integrated into the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox for a combined 195hp. The all-electric range is WLTP-certified at up to 48 miles.

The HEV costs from £37,360 and uses a 48-volt hybrid powertrain, the dual-clutch six-speed automatic gearbox hosting a 22hp (16kW) electric motor, along with a 0.9kWh battery for combined power of 136hp. WLTP fuel economy is rated at 44.6-52.5mpg.

Seven seats will be standard across all variants of the new 5008, with all three powertrains available across both trim levels, dubbed Allure and GT. New standard features include the latest Peugeot Panoramic i-Cockpit, which sees the raised head-up display and large central touchscreen of previous models integrated into a single curved panoramic screen of 21 inches. Below the screen is a configurable virtual i-Toggle display, which can be used to set up to ten shortcuts.

All versions also come with the i-Connect Advanced infotainment system, which provides 3D connected navigation with over-the-air map updates, plus wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility and voice recognition.
