Pod Rewards launches to encourage EV smart charging
Drivers will be able to earn up to £100 a year in rewards.
Electric vehicle (EV) charger manufacturer Pod has launched Pod Rewards, to incentivise EV drivers to use smart charging.
Drivers will be able to earn up to £100 a year in rewards.
Smart charging requires a driver to plug their EV in, set a target charge level and allow the charger to decide the optimum time to charge the car.
Customers benefit from reduced charging costs, due to smart charging taking advantage of off-peak electricity rates, when grid demand is lower and the supply of renewable energy is higher.
Pod customers have already earned more than £330,000 in trials of the scheme.
Melanie Lane, CEO at Pod, said: “Pod Rewards redefines the charging experience for our home customers and rewards them for choosing to charge with Pod, without compromising on ease and simplicity.
“As we continue to pioneer in the home EV charging space, we’re making everyday electric mobility more affordable than ever before, for thousands of drivers across the UK.”
Aviation, Maritime and Decarbonisation Minister Keir Mather said: “We’re making it easier than ever to make the switch from petrol and diesel through schemes like our Electric Car Grant which has helped over 55,000 drivers save up to £3,750 off brand-new EVs.
