What’s not?
- With prices starting at almost £50,000, the Cayenne is not a cheap choice.
- The 173g/km Co2 emissions mean the Porsche Cayenne Diesel falls into the 30% company car tax band for 2014/15. A BMW X5 3.0d SE with its lower 156g/km emissions is cheaper, with a 27% charge.
- The Cayenne’s centre console is a mass of small, poorly marked buttons, making it difficult to find the function you need at a glance – without taking your eyes of the road.
Verdict
Despite being more powerful, efficient and economical, in diesel form, key rivals such as the BMW X5 are cheaper to run as a business car.
But of course there’s nothing like a Porsche for a business owner, is there? So is it worth paying the extra for the Porsche? Yes, if you can stretch it – the Cayenne retains its best driving big SUV crown and all with the kudos of that Porsche badge.
