The Nissan Qashqai has been named the best-selling and top-selling used car in February, according to the Indicata Market Watch report.

Dean Merritt, national retail strategy manager at Indicata, said: “The Qashqai has been a popular used car on our MarketPlace online wholesale auction platform since its launch in 2007.

“The newer petrol hybrid and electric model with range extender are popular as are the previous model petrol and diesel models up to eight years of age.

“Qashqais that retail at between £10,000-£15,000 are in the current sweet spot for dealer forecourts.”

Used car sales were healthy in the first two months of 2026, according to the Market Watch report, with the market moving towards battery power.

All types of hybrids and EVs grew their market share while diesel reduced its share by 4% to 24%.

Overall demand, sales and prices of used EVs have remained consistent during 2026.

However, stock rose to 10% market share in February, which Indicata said suggests the supply flood gates are starting to open as increased numbers of ex-fleet, lease and salary sacrifice vehicles are de-fleeted.

Merritt added: “It will be interesting to see if this rise in used EV stock continues following the arrival of the 26-plate.

“Electric cars achieved a record 16.2% market share in March 2023 and if they are on three-year contracts will be coming back into the used market in either March or April 2026.”
