Renault adds entry-level Clio, reduces starting price by £1,000

Renault has refined the Clio range for 2026, adding the entry-level generation trim, which has reduced the car’s starting price by £1,000.

Two powertrains are offered, the TCe 90 three-cylinder turbocharged petrol, which starts at £17,995, and the full hybrid E-Tech 145, with a four-cylinder engine and a hybrid system, starting at £21,795.

TCe 90 models are available exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox, while full hybrids are automatic-only.

Full hybrid models have a 1.2kWh battery, boosting peak combined efficiency to 65.7mpg, compared to the petrol car’s 54.3mpg.

A new generation of Clio has been previewed, but it will not come to the UK until 2027. The current, fifth-generation car will continue until then.

The Renault Clio generation has a starting price of £17,995, with standard equipment including parking sensors, a reversing camera, a seven-inch digital driver’s display and automatic climate control.

Generation models are only available with the petrol engine, while techno+ and techno esprit Alpine are offered either powertrain.

Techno+ models start at £19,495, adding heated front seats, a wireless phone charger and ambient lighting.
