Renault Master: 100,000th example now built

Full range of new vans up to 4.5 tonnes GVW are now on line

NOT so long ago, we were getting a first glimpse of the new Renault Master and its sister, the Vauxhall Movano. Now, just over a year later, the 100,000th example, a Renault Master chassis cab, has rolled off the production line in Batilly, France. Launched in April 2010, the Renault Master is now available in more than 350 variants with front- and rear-wheel drive, vans and chassis-cabs, with GVWs ranging from 2.8 to 4.5 tonnes, plus a choice of 26 body types, four lengths and three heights. Factor in Vauxhall, Opel and soon Nissan versions and that’s a very complicated production operation. It’s paying off for Renault, though – share of Europe’s big van market is up by two percentage points to 14% up to the end of May over the same period in 2010. The plant is currently cranking out 600 vans a day. The 100,000th vehicle was delivered to the Colas Group. The Master chassis cab will go on to be converted into a dropside platform by Renault Tech.
