A revised diesel engine is due for the Volkswagen Touraeg SUV.
The latest V6 turbo diesel common rail TDI engine has more power: up 15PS to 240PS.
The result is a gain in performance. The 0 to 62-mph time drops from 9.2 to 8.3 seconds.
There are also gains in engine toque, the engine’s low-down pulling power: a rise from 369lb ft to 406lb ft.
Despite the performance gains, the CO2 emissions have fallen from 278g/km to 262g/km. However, the VW Touraeg 3.0 V6 TDI remains in the most expensive 35% tax band.
The 3.0-litre V6 engine is linked to a six speed tiptronic gearbox and four-wheel drive.
The new Euro 5 compliant engine also features a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) in the exhaust system.
The new 3.0-litre V6 TDI joins the existing 2.5-litre TDI and 5.0-litre V10 TDI diesel and 3.6-litre V6 petrol engines in the Touareg range.
There are three trim levels for the new engine: Touareg, SE and Altitude.
Prices for the new Touareg 3.0-litre V6 TDI start at £33,465 on the road, rising to £36,865 for the SE model and £39,665 for the range-topping Altitude trim level.
