Roadchef, in partnership with Shell, has added four ultra-rapid, 300kW chargers at Durham Services on the A1.

Shell will provide real-time charger status updates to electric vehicle (EV) charging apps.

All chargers are powered by 100% renewable energy.

The chargers at Durham Services are equipped with CCS connectors and accept contactless payments.

Drivers who charge via the Shell app can save 10p per kWh, or 30% on standard pricing when they subscribe to Shell Recharge, for £9.99 per month.

Paul Comer, director of EV implementation at Roadchef, said: “We’re delighted to bring faster charging speeds to Durham services as part of our ongoing investment in the UK’s EV network.

“Our collaboration with Shell allows us to deliver a seamless experience for drivers and supporting low carbon mobility and the national transition to EVs.”
