Salford Van Hire and JDS Truck and Van celebrate 60th with Renault truck delivery

Salford Van Hire and longstanding supplier JDS Truck and Van have jointly celebrated their 60th anniversaries through the delivery of 10 Renault trucks.

JDS Truck and Van supplied Salford Van Hire with its first Renault more than 30 years ago.

Its fleet now has around 1,500 Renault Trucks, while it has added 250 vans over the last two years.

It operates 6,500 vehicles nationwide, across depots in Manchester and Leeds.

The 10 anniversary Renault Trucks D18 and D26 vehicles have been finished in a commemorative livery, featuring the Manchester worker bee.

Alessandro Bacci, managing director at Salford Van Hire, said: “As we celebrate 60 years, it feels fitting to do so alongside JDS Truck and Van, a fellow Salford business that we have worked with for decades, marking the same milestone.

“Fuel economy is key – a tractor unit in our fleet will do around 160,000 km a year, so over a five-year contract our customers need to know what the consumption is to run their business competitively.

“Renault Trucks is up there with the best, and that matters for our customers.

“Drivers like the Renault Trucks and that’s important to transport managers. We find that customers often trial vehicles using our fleet, which helps them evaluate and move their fleets over to a different vehicle manufacturer – it’s partnership all round.”

Salford Van Hire also offers cars, refrigerated trucks, tippers and box bodies, on contracts of up to eight years.

JDS Truck & Van has been a dedicated Renault commercial vehicle dealer since 1983, supplying 1,000 vehicles each year across three sites.

It also runs a comprehensive parts delivery operation.

JDS supplies everything in the 2.8 to 44 tonne range.
