Skoda Octavia 2.0 TFSI vRS 230 review
What is it?
The fastest Octavia ever, with as the name suggests, 230PS or 227bhp.
What’s hot?
- The vRS 230 looks similar to the standard vRS, itself one of the tamer, but no less attractive, hot hatches. Changes over the standard vRS are subtle, but the gloss black grille, wing mirrors and rear spoiler certainly add more visual aggression – especially with the clear grey of our test car. The red brake callipers and gloss black-edged 19-inch alloys finish the look.
- The sporty exterior style is continued on the inside of the Octavia vRS 230, with supportive, high-backed red-stitched sports seats, plus a lap timer function for standard touch-screen infotainment with sat-nav – although we didn’t have the chance to try this on the Czech test route. The rest of the Octavia’s interior feels high quality and well-made.
- After you get over the vRS’s sport bits, you realise the practicality of the standard Octavia is unchanged; this means there’s enough room for four to get comfortable on long trips. The large hatchback boot is practically-shaped too.
