Škoda UK’s most powerful Octavia vRS production model has joined the brand’s emergency services lineup, offering increased performance and cutting-edge technology for police and first responders.
The updated Octavia vRS is powered by a revised 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 265PS and 370Nm of torque. Paired with a seven-speed DSG gearbox and a VAQ electrohydraulic differential, the new model delivers power to the front wheels, achieving 0-62mph in 6.4 seconds (6.5 seconds for the estate). The differential optimises grip in all conditions, while a 15mm lower ride height and optional Dynamic Chassis Control enhance handling, even at high speeds.
Renowned for its reliability and versatility, the Octavia has become a staple in emergency service fleets. The latest vRS model introduces Škoda’s newest innovations, including a 13-inch infotainment display, a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit, and an optional head-up display, ensuring critical driving information is presented at a glance.
The Octavia vRS is designed for both performance and practicality, offering a 600-litre boot in the hatch and 640 litres in the estate. Emergency responders also benefit from second-generation LED Matrix beam headlights, now standard. Featuring Crystallinium elements with 36 individual matrix segments, the headlights provide superior illumination while reducing glare for oncoming drivers.
A suite of advanced safety features comes as standard, including Automated Emergency Braking, Predictive Pedestrian Protection, Blind Spot Detection, and Turn Assist, which automatically applies the brakes if a driver fails to notice oncoming traffic. A new Attention and Drowsiness Assist system also monitors driver behaviour, assessing drowsiness levels through steering inputs and Lane Assist interventions.
Škoda UK offers a one-stop-shop conversion package for emergency service fleets. Bespoke conversions for police, ambulance, and fire and rescue teams are available through Škoda-approved partners. The Octavia vRS Estate has passed MET brake safety tests and is fully approved for police use, ensuring it is ready for immediate deployment.
