Skywell has unveiled its Q hatchback at the Paris Motor Show, the first of the Chinese electric brand’s cars to make its global debut in Europe and unveiled at the same time as the 233 large van (story here).
Skywell’s UK distributor, Innovation Automotive, will effectively launch the brand in the UK in November when order books open for the BE11, a mid-sized SUV, before the Q arrives on the market in the third quarter of 2025.
Innovation already distributes a small electric van for another Chinese brand, Dongfeng Motor (DFSK). It intends to establish an initial network of around 25 outlets for Skywell, likely to be primarily small dealer groups and independent operators.
Set to rival the likes of the Kia EV3 and Volkswagen ID.3, the Q will offer competitive performance EV credentials, the larger of its two battery options matched to a 150kW motor and producing a 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds. It will also boast a plus-300 mile combined cycle range and the ability to recharge from 10 to 80% in 20 minutes.
Pitched as a large performance-orientated family car, the Q will be distinguished by a low profile exterior look on 18-inch wheels and with a LED lighter on its front end. Equipment levels include a large, opening ‘Skyroof’, a 360-degree panoramic parking camera and one of the largest infotainment touchscreen displays on the market at 15.6 inches.
Rear seat occupants also get their own touchscreen displays while other features include wireless smartphone charging, eight-speaker German-engineered sound system and 128-colour ambient lighting.
A comprehensive ADAS driver assistance package will also be standard on the Skywell Q – intelligent cruise control assistance, autonomous emergency braking, and lane-keeping and speed assistance will all be part of the package.
Skywell is yet to reveal prices for either the BE11 or Q but says both will be competitive – both will also be supplied with a seven-year, 100,000-mile warranty and an additional eight-year, 155,000-mile warranty for the battery.
