Business Car Manager Verdict
A vast improvement over its predecessor but the Smart ForFour remains a niche choice. It’s high price tag when rivals do more for less will deter some, but its unique design and packaging will draw buyers in.
Although figures for the 900cc turbo haven’t yet been finalized, it looks as if emission below 100g/km will be possible. Around 65mpg should also be achievable, too.
The lesser powered 70bhp engine is even cheaper to run, with 97g/km and economy upwards of 67mpg.
In its natural environment the ForFour is a supremely capable city car, thanks to unrivalled agility and a supremely well-packaged design. Elsewhere it’s doesn’t quite have the range of abilities some of its rivals possess.
