It’s based on the Trendline special model but packs more than £3400-worth of additional equipment – VW says it represents a £2000 saving.
The exclusive model is called the Amarok Edition and with the Trendline specification comes with body-coloured bumpers and wheel arches.
The additonal features provided with the Amarok Edition are 18in Durban alloy wheels, black styling bars across the load area, a black side step, rear privacy glass and special-edition decals.
There’s also Bluetooth connectivity and sat nav with a five-inch colour touchscreen, in addition to front and rear parking sensors, interior floor mats and a protective coating for the load area as standard.
The Amarok edition is powered by Volkswagen’s range-topping 2.0-litre BiTDI 180hp engine, which develops 420Nm of torque and provides a towing capability of up to 3200kg.
There’s a choice of gearboxes, too. A six-speed manual transmission comes with selectable 4MOTION, or there’s a new eight-speed automatic gearbox with permanent 4MOTION.
The auto-box-equipped model also comes with BlueMotion Technology, which includes a start/stop system, regenerative braking and low rolling-resistance tyres for improved economy and emissions.
There’s a choice of two colours: Deep Black, with silver door mirrors, or Reflex Silver, with black door mirror covers.
The Amorak edition will be on sale from July. Prices start from £22,495 (excluding VAT) for the manual transmission model and rise to £24,225 (excluding VAT) for the auto.
