Startin Group has agreed to supply 60 new Vauxhall commercial vehicles (CVs) to Redditch Borough Council’s Housing Property Services.

28 vehicles have been delivered, while the remaining 32 will join the fleet later in the year.

The order is made up of three Combo vans, 16 Vivaro vans, L3H3 standard and high-roof Movano vans, as well as tipper, flatbed dropside and chassis-cab cage Movano variants.

Startin Group will supply the vehicles through its recently-opened Fleet Hub in Redditch, which is expected to process more than 2,000 vehicles in its first year.

Andrew Rainbow (pictured, right), interim housing property services manager at Redditch Borough Council, said: “Working with Startin Group allows us to renew our fleet with vehicles that are fit for purpose, cost-effective and readily available.

“Their local presence and understanding of public sector requirements have been a key factor in this programme.”

Councillor Bill Hartnett (pictured, second from right), portfolio holder for housing at Redditch Borough Council, said: “This investment supports our wider commitment to continually improving services for our tenants, and we’re delighted to have been able to use a local business for what we need.

“These vehicles will enable housing property services teams to more efficiently support customers for years to come.

“Redditch Borough Council always prefers to shop local, but this gives a new meaning to local. Being local can actually help you win council business, because it can count for you in the official procurement processes.

“I urge local suppliers to keep a close eye on our procurement channels for when contract opportunities come up, and consider joining the frameworks that supply our sector too.”

Startin Group said its Fleet Hub is part of a wider effort to expand fleet capabilities across corporate, SME and public sector markets.

It represents brands such as Dacia, Honda, Peugeot, Vauxhall, Kia, Renault and Suzuki.

Lee O’Connell (pictured, second from left), head of group fleet at Startin Group, said: “The council agreement is an early validation of the group’s investment.

“Supplying Redditch Council is exactly the kind of work the new Startin Fleet Hub and compound was built for.

“Public sector fleets need dependable delivery, clear communication and vehicles prepared to a consistent standard.

“This facility gives us the control and capacity to do that properly.”
