Steve Catlin returns as Vauxhall managing director as brand targets EV growth
Vauxhall has reappointed Steve Catlin as managing director as it targets growth in the electric vehicle market.
Vauxhall has announced the appointment of Steve Catlin as its new managing director, marking a return to the brand where he began his automotive career more than 20 years ago.
Catlin joined Vauxhall as a performance analyst and rose through the ranks to become retail sales director in 2012. He left the brand in 2015 and held senior roles across the industry at Saab, SEAT, Audi, and most recently as managing director of Volvo Car Financial Services UK.
“It’s great to be back working with Vauxhall, which has always been a brand close to my heart,” said Catlin. “A lot has changed since I was last here and not just the décor, but the motor industry as a whole. However, Vauxhall has always stood for practical innovation with a distinctly British voice. Now, with a fully electric line-up and a clear sense of purpose, it’s a brilliant time to be part of the journey. I’m looking forward to building on the progress we’ve made and the exciting road ahead.”
Eurig Druce, group managing director at Stellantis UK, added: “Steve brings deep experience across the industry and a strong understanding of Vauxhall’s role in shaping the future of British mobility. Vauxhall, a home brand for Stellantis UK must return to growth and I am confident Steve will lead the teams in a positive trajectory.”
Catlin takes over as Vauxhall strengthens its focus on electrification. The company now offers a fully electric version of every car and van in its range and has become the first UK manufacturer to offer electric and petrol hybrid options at identical list prices for the same model, starting with the New Frontera.
In 2024, the brand sold more than 15,000 electric vehicles, becoming the top electric vehicle brand across the UK retail network.
