A stop-drive order has been issued for Citroën C3 and DS 3 models produced between 2009 and 2019, equipped with Takata airbags.
Owners will be notified if their vehicle is affected by post, but can also check by typing their vehicle identification number (VIN) into Citroën’s recall website.
On the website, owners can also register their vehicle to receive the recall.
Alternatively, owners of affected vehicles can call Stellantis’ recall hotline on 0800 917 9285 to register.
Citroën reports that there have not yet been any reported instances of airbag failure in the UK.
Vehicles in Southern Europe have already been subject to a stop-drive order, as the climate was found to make failure more likely, but the recall has now been extended to the rest of Europe and the UK.
It comes as the latest in a series of Takata airbag recalls, with automakers such as Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Land Rover, Mazda, and even Saab affected by the recalls.
