System Edström, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of van racking and accessories, has acquired Malcolm’s Towbar Services, a trusted name in the Irish motor trade for more than six decades.
The move marks System Edström’s formal expansion into Ireland, reflecting its confidence in the market and long-term commitment to supporting customers across Europe.
The acquisition will allow System Edström to combine its innovative van racking solutions with Malcolm’s local expertise and established customer base. The company said the existing team at Malcolm’s will remain in place to ensure continuity of service.
Steffen Karlsson, CEO at System Edström, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Malcolm’s Towbar Services into the System Edström family. This acquisition represents an exciting step forward in our mission to expand our footprint and serve the Irish market with the same quality and reliability that have made us a leader across Europe. Malcolm’s longstanding reputation for excellence makes them an ideal partner for us.”
David Malcolm of Malcolm’s Towbar Services added: “This acquisition marks a new chapter for Malcolm’s Towbar Services. We are thrilled to partner with System Edström, a company that shares our dedication to quality and customer satisfaction. Together, we will continue to provide exceptional service and expand our offerings to better serve our customers.”
As part of the transition, Andy Malcolm has been appointed managing director for Ireland. The company said his experience and leadership will support continued growth while maintaining the strong customer relationships built over 65 years.
The acquisition is expected to help System Edström deliver a broader product range and improved service coverage across Ireland, with the aim of setting new standards in the van conversion and accessories market.
