Targa Telematics, which develops digital solutions and platforms for connected mobility with AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things), has appointed Adam Gooch as director of insurance in the UK.
Gooch will be responsible for overseeing Targa Telematics’ InsurTech offering and expanding its footprint in the UK.
The company said that one of the primary reasons for this growth is the increase in demand and use cases for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) data, not only for connected insurance purposes, but also across wider car, van, and commercial vehicle markets.
Gooch has over 20 years of experience across the insurance ecosystem, spanning telematics and InsurTech providers, legal services, and insurers.
He has held senior director positions at UK telematics service providers, where he managed insurer relations and product development, as well as led operations and marketing.
Targa Telematics serves clients including Generali and Unipol in the InsurTech sector, or Arval, Ayvens and Motability Operations UK for fleet services.
Leveraging data generated by OEM sensors, Targa Telematics’ ecosystem of solutions delivers driving-based risk profiles, accident reconstructions, streamlined claims-management tools and anti-fraud systems.
The company also provides insurers with technology and expertise to implement usage-based insurance (UBI) policies, supporting emerging mobility models such as car sharing and peer-to-peer services.
In 2025, Targa Telematics was recognised with the “Frost & Sullivan European Market Leadership” award for the development of digital solutions for fleet management and UBI across Europe.
Chris Horbowyj, UK commercial director at Targa Telematics, said: “Now is the moment for advanced telematics solutions to truly transform the UK insurance sector.
“As insurers and fleet operators face increasing pressure to control costs, protect customer data and enhance efficiency, the need for innovative, data-driven solutions has never been higher.
“The appointment of a seasoned professional like Adam will significantly strengthen Targa Telematics’ offering and capabilities in the insurance segment.
“His deep market knowledge, combined with a relentless commitment to results, will be instrumental in further elevating our strategy and expanding our footprint in the growing UK insurance market.”
Gooch added: “With its global presence, state-of-the-art technology and industry-leading expertise, Targa Telematics is ideally placed to lead the next chapter in the InsurTech sector and bring significant advantages from merging trends and learnings from Europe to the UK.
“Moreover, Targa Telematics is one of the few players that can really leverage OEM data to create best-in-class services, and I believe we can deliver major value not only to the connected insurance industry but also standard markets.
“I am thrilled to join the company at such a pivotal moment and look forward to building on its numerous strengths to help insurers unlock the full potential of OEM and telematics-enabled insurance.”
