Tesla launches entry-level Model Y Standard, priced from £41,990

Tesla has launched an entry-level variant of the Model Y, the Standard, which has reduced the car’s starting price to £41,990.

The Model Y Standard is priced £7,000 lower than the Model Y Premium Long Range Rear Wheel Drive, the next model in the range.

Standard models have 314 miles of range and accelerate to 62mph in 6.9 seconds. It is only offered with rear wheel drive.

It features 19-inch wheels, Tesla’s ‘Basic Autopilot’ advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), heated front seats and a 15.4-inch touchscreen.

162 miles of range can be added in 15 minutes using a Tesla Supercharger.

Tesla Model Y Standard models are differentiated by the lack of front and rear light bars, as well as a smaller centre console.

The entry-level model is offered in Stealth Grey as standard, but Pearl White or Diamond Black can be added for £1,300.

Tesla said that monthly payments on a personal contract purchase (PCP) plan should start around £299, with a £7,400 deposit.
