The first right-hand drive Model S versions have been delivered to UK buyers.

THE Tesla Model S has arrived in the UK at last – with right-hand drive.

Tesla describes the Model S as an “uncompromised electric car” a reference to its 312 mile range in official tests that almost matches the distance its petrol-fuelled equivalents can cover on a single tank.

Most other electric cars on the market will give you 100 miles – if you’re lucky.

The first five UK customers received their cars from Tesla’s founder Elon Musk, at the company’s West London showroom at the weekend.

The company plans to open further UK showrooms and service centres over the next two years, as well as a network of fast-charging “Supercharger” points which can replenish about half of the Model S’s enormous battery capacity in about twenty minutes.

The first of these, in London’s Docklands, also opened for business at the weekend.
