Transparent bonnet

Transparent bonnet is a very interesting idea. This is a driver assist technology that makes use of virtual imaging through advanced cameras to improve visibility and vehicle positioning.

This is an important part of autonomous driving, but it can also send a video feed of the terrain being traversed to the heads-up display on the HMI. This will allow the driver to view terrain and make adjustments to his/her driving and it could be a very useful feature whilst off-roading.

Laser guidance

Land Rover says that as we move ever closer to autonomous driving, it’s critical that vehicles have a way to communicate with one another. That’s where laser guidance comes in.

The Discovery Vision Concept uses laser light tuned to specific colours in the visible spectrum to project images onto the road that can be seen by other road users and vehicles. One of the uses of this is to project warning signals onto the road, in the event of fog or a stoppage.
