BUSINESS MOTORING OVERALL SCORE

At a glance, the Skoda Elroq 60 Edition looks almost interchangeable with the Skoda Enyaq. So, what exactly is the Elroq trying to add?

On the inside

Inside, the sense of déjà vu continues. Nevertheless, it feels cohesive, grown up and aimed at a driver who wants quality without the performance pretence that often accompanies it.

10 years ago, a layout like this would have belonged in a premium brand. Today it sits here with a quiet confidence.

What struck me most was not the style but the space. The Elroq is 20cm shorter than the Enyaq, but because it uses the same platform it avoids the usual compromise of losing cabin room.

Performance

In terms of performance, the Elroq draws a clearer boundary between itself and anything that trades on drama. The 63 kWh battery and single rear motor produce a 0-60 time of 7.6 seconds, placing it firmly in the territory of ‘enough’ rather than ‘exciting’.

The more relevant number is the 250-mile range. The Elroq sits comfortably in the zone where routine travel becomes predictable, rather than something that requires planning.

Stand-out sibling

The exterior gives the Elroq its strongest sense of identity. It is the first Skoda to wear the brand’s new, more solid look.

The surfaces are clean, the lines are crisp and there is a sense of restraint that makes the whole car look neatly ironed, which captures the impression precisely.

The big change sits on the nose. Out goes the badge and in comes the oversized wordmark. It feels like a brand choosing to state its name rather than imply it.

For a model positioned as the younger, fresher entry, that fits.

Where the Enyaq feels settled, the Elroq is more eager – lighter, cheaper and styled with a touch more confidence.

The comparison between a younger sibling and a parent is surprisingly accurate. One is already out of the door, backpack in tow, the other stands at the kitchen contemplating the bills.

From an SME perspective, the Elroq aligns neatly with day-to-day fleet needs. A compact footprint with a roomy interior helps in tight urban environments. A predictable range supports regular travel without fuss.

The lighter feel makes it more adaptable to varied driving patterns. The Elroq has a practical foundation without overreaching into claims it cannot support.

Sense of style

Skoda is moving on stylistically, and the Elroq carries that message first.

Its role is not to reinvent the platform but to show it in a new mood, and it does that effectively.

The Enyaq remains the established option – steady and conventional. The Elroq brings a bit more life to the same layout.

By the end of the test, questions about its purpose did not linger. Once the strengths reveal themselves, the Elroq takes shape as its own proposition.

The Elroq has energy, enthusiasm and a point to prove.
