Cupra dealers have started taking reservations for the SEAT spin-off brand’s second fully electric model, the Tavascan coupe-style SUV.

Orders open on 11th September for the newcomer, which will be available in single-motor 286hp and dual-motor 340hp power outputs and in four trim levels dubbed  V1, V2, VZ1 and VZ2.

All versions use a 77kWh battery pack offers a WLTP range of up to 352 miles, and accepts 11kW AC and fast charging DC at up to 135kw.

Standard Tavascan models have a quoted 0-62mph time of 6.8 seconds, dropping to 5.5 seconds on VZ trim variants and with a maximum speed of 112mph.

The Tavascan was unveiled at the Munich Motor Show in September 2023 and is based on a concept that first appeared some five years ago. While sharing much of the hardware of fellow VW Group models the Volkswagen ID.4, Skoda Enyaq and Audi Q4 e-tron, it is intended to be an overtly more sporty model in keeping with the Cupra image.

The brand is emphasising the distinctive design of the Tavascan, particularly the front end, with its three-triangle eye signature headlamps and ‘shark nose’ look. The interior is also a significant upgrade on that of Cupra’s first two models the Born and Formentor.

Tarascan prices start from £47,340 and initial retail buyers will be able to buy the car at 1% APR over 48 months with a £3,000 deposit contribution and get either a complimentary Ohme charger or £700 charging voucher.

SEAT and Cupra UK director Marcus Gossen describes the arrival of the Tarascan as a culmination of years of hard work, innovation, and design to create the future direction of Cupra. “The Tavascan marks the next step in the Cupra electrification journey, and we’re delighted to be able to bring that to life on the UK roads from 11th September this year,” Gossen said.
