Repairify has highlighted an issue with the dependence of UK fleets on the Ford Transit, in its first-ever Risk Report.
The report found that one in 14 of all remote diagnostic jobs performed by Repairify were for Transits, more than any other vehicle.
Transits accounted for 7% of all diagnostic jobs in August and September, far ahead of the second-place Nissan Qashqai’s 3% share and the third-place Kia Sportage’s 2%.
It warned that a systemic issue with the Ford Transit could disproportionately affect fleet operations.
Mohamed Ahmed, data analyst at Repairify, said: “Seeing seven per cent of all diagnostic work concentrated on a single vehicle model demonstrates the impact the Transit has had on UK fleets.
“It’s a real workhorse of a vehicle but while it is known for reliability, no vehicle is 100% protected against
diagnostics issues.
“Fortunately, the majority are low impact and our specialist team is able to successfully resolve them for our customers with no issues.”
Repairify said that remote diagnostics services grew in September and it averaged a 92% success rate.
The most requested service type was post-repair verification scans for fleets, followed by camera calibration for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Repairify said that the procedure has evolved from specialist work to become routine, as every windscreen replacement on a modern vehicle requires sensor recalibration.
It said that glass specialists bear the brunt of this demand.
