Vauxhall Mokka
The Mokka has a big car feel in the mini-SUV market

What not?

  • While Vauxhall has updated the engine, it hasn’t addressed the rather dull interior.
  • There’s extensive use of plastics, which are hard-wearing and durable but don’t give much of a premium feel. The large cluster of buttons on the dash doesn’t do the cabin any favours either, and can be difficult to navigate on the move.
  • While the Mokka may be spacious for those in the front and the back, passengers in the rear will feel a little claustrophobic due to the dark interior and narrow windows.
  • At £22,574, the Mokka is also rather expensive for it category, and with this price tag begins to nibble away at larger offerings like the Nissan Qashqai.

Verdict on the Vauxhall Mokka 1.6-litre CDTi?

Where Vauxhall has focused with this updated Mokka, it has succeeded. Dynamically it’s more refined, more comfortable and easier to live with.

Better still, with the efficiency updates trips to the pumps will also become less frequent and you’ll notice some extra pounds in your pocket thanks to reduced company car tax bills.

However, Vauxhall has failed to address the dark and dreary cabin and in such a competitive segment that could prove to be a fatal oversight.
