Vauxhall has unveiled a mild update to the Mokka crossover that will see the petrol-engined and electrified models much closer in price.

The changes include the dropping of the former entry-level Griffin specification, the cheapest petrol Mokka now being supplied in Design trim at prices starting from £24,705 on the road, £1945 more than the Griffin.

The hybrid Mokka in Design trim now costs from £27,305, and the Mokka Electric Design £33,245 – these prices are reductions of £3250 and £4640 respectively which Vauxhall says is part of its new pricing structure aiming to make electric mobility attainable to all. Discounting on electric models is currently prevalent across the industry approaching the end of the first year of the Government’s Zero Emissions Vehicle Mandate, requiring 22% of a brand’s sales to be electric.

Changes to the Mokka as part of the update include a revised interior based around a new 10-inch digital instrument display and 10-inch touchscreen as standard, simplified steering wheel, uprated switchgear and a revised centre console.

There are mild visual changes to the exterior including a redesigned front bumper and reworked LED headlights in the style of the recently launched Frontera, while chrome trim has been dispensed with.

The 100hp version of the 1.2-litre petrol engine is no longer available, the choices being between a 136hp variant with a six-speed manual gearbox or one rated at 130hp with an eight-speed auto transmission.

The Mokka Hybrid combines a 136hp 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine with a 28hp electric motor,  through a new six-speed dual-clutch auto transmission. It returns WLTP economy of up to 58.8 mpg, 108g/km of CO2 and has a 0-62mph time of  8.2 seconds.

The Mokka Electric can now only be had with the larger 54kWh battery and 156hp electric motor. WLTP range is up to 250 miles, with 0-62mph taking 9 seconds, with a top speed of 93mph.

Vauxhall dealers are already taking orders for the new Mokka with first deliveries in late January 2025.
