VEV has partnered with technology company Techniche to integrate automated maintenance management into its EV charging platform, aiming to improve charger reliability and uptime for UK customers.

Techniche EV, a solution developed to help operators maintain high availability of electric vehicle infrastructure, is now embedded within the VEV-IQ system.

The integration allows asset data and charger error codes from VEV-IQ to be analysed and triaged automatically, with faults either remotely resolved or assigned to engineers for on-site attention.

Mike Brown, vice president of product at VEV, said: “Maximising fleet uptime is critical for operators to optimise the productivity and profitability of their operations.

“With the addition of Techniche EV, we’re able to replace spreadsheet records and manual triaging of charger breakdowns with a fully automated system that is expected to speed up our response times by detecting and triaging over 85% of charger issues and allow us to get them back online as quickly as possible.

“A further benefit of Techniche EV is the flexibility it offers to alter workflows to reflect customers’ different SLAs, which was a particularly significant consideration for VEV.

“The solution is therefore ideally placed to help us meet and report on the rigorous service level requirements set by our end-customers.”

The move marks a significant step in enhancing the operational efficiency of VEV’s e-fleet charging infrastructure. The VEV-IQ platform already offers users centralised oversight of fleet, charging and energy use, and the new partnership introduces automated work order generation in response to technical faults.

Brad Sandys, head of business development EMEA at Techniche, said: “We’re delighted to welcome VEV as a Techniche EV customer and our first dedicated fleet solutions customer.

“This partnership represents an exciting opportunity to further develop our product for the e-fleet charging market, and we look forward to supporting VEV in its goal of increasing fleet charging reliability and uptime for businesses across the UK.”

VEV is backed by Vitol, a major global player in the energy sector, and continues to invest in digital tools to meet the evolving needs of commercial fleet operators.
