VEV has been named as an Independent Connection Provider (ICP) under the National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS), strengthening its position as a provider of end-to-end electrification solutions for UK fleet operators.
Accreditation under NERS, which is administered by LRQA on behalf of the UK’s distribution network operators, is a recognised industry standard confirming technical competence and regulatory compliance for organisations working on electricity networks.
As an ICP, VEV is now certified to design, build and connect infrastructure directly to the electricity grid.
The status allows the business to manage grid connections independently, helping to reduce delays and ease pressure on the system when delivering EV-related projects such as high-powered charging installations, battery storage and on-site solar generation.
Chris O’Sullivan, VP projects and operations at VEV, said: “Getting a grid connection agreed is challenging enough for our customers without then having to worry about dealing with the DNOs, iDNOs and councils for the design, build and connection phase.
“By becoming an ICP, we’re offering a genuine one stop shop for all our customers’ needs, from building out their strategies for electrification through to the detailed design and delivery of high-quality solutions that enable businesses to make the switch to cleaner electric vehicles without compromising on performance, cost or reliability.”
VEV said the accreditation would allow it to speed up delivery timelines for fleet electrification projects by taking direct control of the connection process, helping customers progress more quickly from planning to deployment as demand for EV infrastructure continues to grow.
