The release of the ID. Tiguan is part of the True Volkswagen strategy, which sees the brand deploy established names on its electric models.

Volkswagen has announced that it will retire the ID.4 and ID.5 names, replacing the models with the ID. Tiguan from early 2027.
The release of the ID. Tiguan is part of the True Volkswagen strategy, which sees the brand deploy established names on its electric models.
Volkswagen will reveal the ID. Tiguan in October, ahead of the market launch in early 2027.
Under the True Volkswagen strategy, Volkswagen has released the ID. Cross and ID. Polo.
It will continue to offer the internal combustion (ICE) and hybrid Tiguan models.
Volkswagen said the ID. Tiguan will have a “completely new” design.
Globally, the Tiguan is currently the best-selling vehicle in the Volkswagen brand range, as well as the Volkswagen Group’s best-seller.
Thomas Schäfer, CEO of the Volkswagen brand, head of Brand Group Core and member of the board of management at Volkswagen AG, said: “More than 8.3 million Tiguan vehicles produced demonstrate the strength and trust associated with this model name.
