Volvo unveils

Volvo has unveiled its new compact XC60 4×4 model.

The new five-seat XC60 SUV will join the larger, seven-seat XC90 SUV in Volvo’s 4×4 range this autumn.

There will be a choice of three engines at launch: two diesel, one petrol.

The diesels will be Volvo’s five-cylinder D5 units with either 163PS or 185PS power outputs.

The petrol will be the hotshot turbocharged T6 unit which produces 285PS. All models have four-wheel drive.

Next year, the range will be expanded with a two-wheel drive diesel XC60 model.

Among the features of the Volvo XC60 will be new safety technology called City Safety.

This system helps avoid or reduce the effects of low-speed impacts common in city traffic. If the car is about to drive into the vehicle in front and the driver does not react, the car brakes itself.

The new Volvo XC60 will be available from October.
