Picking Volvo V40s for their engineers has allowed Olympus Automation to cut running costs and polish up its green motoring credentials

OLYMPUS Automation wants to run socially responsible ‘green’ company cars.

With emissions of just 88g/km, the 10 Volvo V40s they’ve just acquired certainly tick that box, but they also return 83mpg and qualify for a 100% write down allowance too.

The new V40s make up a third of the Peterborough based engineering business’ company car fleet, which currently amounts to 30 cars for its 55 employees.

They’re fitted with the highly efficient D2 diesel engine. Those ultra-low emissions equate to Band A VED, and a company car tax rate of just 13%.

That means a basic rate payer will pay £574 in company car tax, while higher rate payers will face a bill of just £1147. A similarly specced Mercedes A180 CDI SE will cost £599 and £1198 respectively.

The fleet of V40s will be used by engineers travelling to sites across the UK, and will cover anything up to 30,000 miles per year.
