Volvo XC60 compact SUV prices confirmed

The Volvo XC60 will be priced from L24,750.

It goes on sale this autumn.

The classy-looking compact SUV will be available with a choice of three engines.

There’s a turbocharged 281bhp T6 petrol engine. And two 2.4-litre turbodiesels: a 161bhp (badged 2.4D) and 182bhp (D5).

There will be three trim levels: S, SE and SE Lux.

S variants will feature climate control, cruise control, alloy wheels, front fog lights and roof rails. Safety-related equipment includes City Safety, which is a collision avoidance system that uses automatic braking, and Roll Stability Control.

SE trim adds Hill Descent Control, powered seat adjustment and automatically folding door mirrors.

SE Lux upgrades to leather upholstery, heated front seats, active bending headlights, powered tailgate and rear park assist.

The aggressive pricing means the Volvo XC60 will undercut the BMW X3. The cheapest X3 is the 2.0d SE, priced at L29,415.

The Volvo XC60 will also give the Land Rover Freelander a run for its money. The 2.2 TD4 SE Freelander is L28,805, which is L2555 dearer than the XC60 2.4D SE. The top Freelander model, the 3.2 i6 HSE, is L34,500, which is just L5 more than the XC60 T6 SE Lux.

The XC60 will not have it all its own way, though. Ford

The aggressive pricing means the Volvo XC60 will undercut the BMW X3. The cheapest X3 is the 2.0d SE, priced at £29,415.

Prices start from under £25,000 for Volvo’s all-new SUV

The Volvo XC60 will also give the Land Rover Freelander a run for its money. The 2.2 TD4 SE Freelander is £28,805, which is £2555 dearer than the XC60 2.4D SE. The top Freelander model, the 3.2 i6 HSE, is £34,500, which is just £5 more than the XC60 T6 SE Lux.

The XC60 will not have it all its own way, though. Ford’s fine-handling and smart-looking Kuga is cheaper and over the next 18 months, it will face stiff competition from, among others, the Audi Q5, Infiniti EX and Saab 9-4X

The Volvo XC60 will be in UK showrooms this October, with deliveries starting in November.
