Which cars will I have to pay the least company car tax?
These are the questions are readers constantly ask and search for – and we’re now going to find out the definitive answer in our Business Car Manager SME Company Car of the Year Awards.
Choosing a tax-efficient company car can make the difference between a pay rise – or paying more in tax. And we all know what we would prefer!
The easiest way to pay no company car tax is to choose an electric car. Until 2015 electric cars are exempt from company car tax. But, while we can see a few applications for small businesses and electric cars, they remain a minority interest saddled with high acquisition costs and range issues.
So what about more standard company cars?
Diesel cars offer low CO2 emissions and low company car tax rates. An Alfa Romeo MiTo 1.3 JTDM-2 Sprint 85hp Start Stop offers plenty of Italian flair but only 90g/km of CO2.
However, is the bigger Hyundai i30 1.6 CRDi Style 110PS Blue Drive (100g/km CO2) more effective for company car drivers because it’s a larger five-door hatchback – and comes with Hyundai’s unlimited mileage 5 Year Triple Car warranty?
